Adopted Motto- Filling Playgrounds, not Prisons!
Our Mission The mission of the Plant City Eagles is to provide a high quality youth football and cheerleading program to the residents of Plant City and Greater East Hillsborough County area where youth can learn fundamentals of the game as well as values needed in life.
Objectives The specific objectives and purposes of this program shall be: 1. To provide recreational opportunities for the youth of East Hillsborough County where all participants can have fun.
Bealsville, Incorporated Bealsville Inc., is the hosting non-profit organization that provides financial oversight, administrative and volunteer support to the Plant City Eagles. This program one of several youth program components operated and/or sponsored by Bealsville, Inc., serving the youth of Plant City and surrounding communities (Bealsville, Keysville).
Statement of Need The Greater East Hillsborough County area is experiencing tremendous residential growth. The need for youth programs to counter youth gang presence, and juvenile crime is an important key to developing "Healthy Neighborhoods".
Background The Plant City Eagles Program was founded in 2006 as a result of idea of sorts by Mr. Terry Hall. Mr. Hall whom at that time managed the the Bealsville Recreation Center. Mr. Hall expressed his desire to coach youth league football and work with local youth. In the fall of 2005 Mr. Hall approached the two non-profit organizations; Bealsville, Incorporated and Improvement League of Plant City, Incorporated whom both provided the leadership and resources to establish the Plant City Eagles Youth Football & Cheerleading Program. His reasons included the fact that a former Plant City youth football program was disbanded years ago due to fiscal mismanagement leaving local kids without a accessible football program. By working with the non-profit organization Bealsville, Inc., he hoped that Bealsville's lengthy history of management assests and finances would be deciding factor in regaining businesses to support youth football again. Mr. James Jackson, a product of Plant City, lead this volunteer effort as the first President of the Eagles Program for three years establishing this program, gaining community support and laying the groundwork. During Mr. Jackson's tenure he developed relationships with local area churches, and as a former Plant City Colt youth football player, he was able to re-establish ties to parents and the community and in turn leading to a number of parents returning to participate in Plant City versus traveling to Lakeland. In 2009 Mr. Jackson's passed the baton to interim President Mr. William Thomas Sr., whom since that time has worked with local agencies, businesseses, sponsors, and even the NFL and Tampa Bay Buccaneer's Tight End Mr. Kellen Winslow and his wife to develop a prime youth football facility that receives high marks, has established a reputation as a fiscally reponsible youth sports organization that is transparent, accountable and with measures in place to allow this program to survive and operate for the long term. Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation & Conservation is the leading supporter of the Plant City Eagles Program. The Plant City Eagles organization has repaired past trangressions left in the wake of a former youth football program and has regained the trust of businesses such as Pepsi, and youth sports apparel companies. Mr. Thomas is working the President position as interim while training several individuals to eventually replace him in two years. Why the name "Plant City Eagles?" - Well you would have to go back in time and study your history to understand why we use the name Plant City Eagles when the program is located in Bealsville. First of all Bealsville (unicorporated Plant City) and Plant City neighborhoods are very close and the history and ties among both go back to the late 1860s. Glover School, Midway Academy, Marshall High School (yes Marshall was once a High School) are just a few examples. The location of the facility was chosen due to the history of the community and their in-depth involvement via volunteering and dialogue with government agencies. The community of Bealsville has a lengthly history of ownership and has a clearly documented past of donating land to support schools and public parks in the community. Residents are known for donating time and resources and not wanting to be recognized. Examples include tractor trailers mowing the park, usage of refrigerated trucks to store frozen food, usage of property for overflow parking, advocating for improvements and support of the park and treatment of football field. Even local area churches contribute declining any effort to recognize them. We call them the silent warriors of the Eagles. Within five years the Plant City Eagles have been able to accomplish what very few youth programs have been able to do in such a short time frame. We have a first class facility, with all the amenities, a great support network, and resources to maintain our own property and site. All of our squads both football & cheerleading have either made playoff appearances or contended and won a superbowl. Cheerleading squads have competed in cheer-offs and placed 1st through 3rd place. This program and facility located in Bealsville is considered a unique gem for the community of Bealsville, Eastern Hillsborough County Residents, and Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation & Conservation Department. The Plant City Eagles are proud to be competing in the Sunshine PAL Conference.
