Parents Web Page Here are some important notes for parents regarding the Plant City Eagles Football Program. |
Important Dates & Notes- Team Moms will be working together to host Halloween Party in October 2008. Banquet tenative dates are Nov 25 or Dec 2. Fundraiser in front of Sam's Club Brandon on Friday October 17th, 2008. There is no school on that day.
Every Child should play- It's hard out here for a coach! After a long hard day at work, young men and women come out to Bealsville to volunteer their time and work with children in the community. Coaches believe that every child should play at least six plays at each home game. Coaches understand that parents pay the fee that we request and expect to see their child play. However, children need to arrive on time. It's hard for a coach to work with a large group of children if they don't respect their time and arrive "on time." As parents we should make every attempt to ensure our children arrive on time during practice each week. Therefore when game time comes on Saturday, as parents we can look forward to seeing our child play. Remember that volunteers work for free. Plant City Eagles recognized for HUGE PARENT SUPPORT Last season (2007) the Plant City Eagles were recognized for great support from residents, family and friends. Our game attendance both at home and on the road was above average. We understand that all parents and children make a program work and not just a chosen few. The Plant City Eagles Youth Football Program is a group operated by volunteers who work and give their time for free. We should applaud parents who don't just "drop off" their children. The reason why we are successful so far is because of parent support and volunteers. We have to face the fact that we are competing against other neighborhoods who care for their children just as much as we do. Yes, its a matter of community pride. Understand that coaches volunteer as coaches. They do not make decisions regarding registration fees. Parents can come to the concession stand to obtain any information they need regarding regisration and/or the program. No volunteer coach is responsible for registration nor should be involved in it. They are coaches, and we should not expect them to do everything.
Uniforms- Last year a large number of parents did not return jerseys and equipment issued during the 2007 year. Ordering new equipment takes 3 to 6 weeks to deliver. Most of our parents did not register their children until after August 1, 2008. This means that uniforms and equipment will not arrive until mid September. We encourage parents to register early therefore allowing the volunteers to order jerseys and equipment that will arrive in time for practice in August. Let's make every attempt to take care of equipment. And as volunteers we hope not to see an Eagles Cheerleader Jersey being worn by a child at Lincoln Elementary School during the Spring.
REGISTRATION Remember....you can register your child for the upcoming season early from February 1st to July 1st every year. Register your child at the Bealsville Recreation Center, Boys & Girls Club and/or Glover School.
How did we get a home field? The community of Bealsville was founded in 1863. During the 1930s several residents made donations of property for a school and recreation center. The property that Bealsville Recreation Center sits on was donated by a member of the Beal family. Last year residents lead by Mr. Henry Davis, President/CEO of Bealsville Incorporated, went before the Board of County Commissioners to address construction of a football field at the recreation center. Since the property was donated it was deemed appropriate for the county to at least construct a football field. The residents of Bealsville continue to be active with local government as the economic climate presents a number of challenges.
Background The Plant City Eagles Program was founded in 2006 by Mr. Terry Hall. Mr. Hall currently manages the Bealsville Recreation Center. Mr. Hall expressed his desire to coach youth league football. In the fall of 2005 Mr. Hall approached the volunteers of Bealsville, Incorporated whom provided the leadership and resources to establish the Plant City Eagles Youth Football & Cheerleading Program.
Why use the name Plant City Eagles? With the home field located in unincorporated Plant City, the question is often raised....why call it the Plant City Eagles? Well the answer is really simple. There are several reasons: Partnering with others to make a REGIONAL IMPACT. 1) The football program serves youth and families in both the City of Plant City and unincorporated areas. This program is no different than soccer programs hosted by the City of Plant City but serving citizens of surrounding areas (Seffner, Knights Station,Turkey Creek, etc.). 2) This program has the support of several law enforcement organizations. City of Plant City Police Department, City of Lakeland Police Department, Polk County Sheriff and Hillsborough County Sheriff Offices. Juvenile crime in unincorporated areas impact the City of Plant City and vise versa. Local governments, agencies and businesses recognize that by working together juvenile crime from the entire Eastern Hillsborough County area can be reduced. 3) The use of the name Plant City Eagles will acknowledge the fact that youth from Plant City and surrounding areas are served. *Hillsborough County contributed construction of a home field in Bealsville. *City of Plant City Parks and Recreation Department provides use of Mike Sansone Park for large scale conferences and jamborees.
